Odd one out (repost from The Wifey's Kitchen)
Which one is it? I smiled when I saw this as I opened the egg tray. I call it the "egg with cellulites". Notice the bumps on its shell? Very different from the ones beside it, right? Keeps me wondering why it has got an uneven appearance. I have no intentions of using it yet. I still have yet to do the egg test first to see if it still is fresh. My mama said that a fresh egg sinks in water, a stale one won't.
How to Tell if Eggs are Fresh: Fill a bowl with enough water to cover the egg. Place the egg in the water. If the egg lies on its side, it's very fresh. If the egg stands from the bottom of the bowl, still quite fresh, it still is edible. If the egg floats, throw it away. You've got a stale one there.
KITCHEN TIP: Can't distinguish a fresh egg from a hard boiled one? Spin the egg. If it moves back and forth or from side to side, it's raw. If it spins, it's hard-boiled!

There might be a problem on the chicken that lays those eggs with cellulites. Or there might be lack or overdose of carbonate intake of the laying hens.
ReplyDeletethanks for the tip, i usually check eggs after i open it if it has smell or the yolk is not round or firm anymore.
ReplyDeletenice tip for a non-kitchen user like me. i love eggs, any type.. balot, penoy, duck, chicken..

ReplyDeleteIt's important to know that trick. One time accidentally nasama yung bulok sa fresh coz we were going to scramble. Ayun tinapon tuloy namin lahat. Nasayang ang mga eggs!
ReplyDeleteI wonder why there's "cellulite" in that egg. hmmm.. Great egg tips sis! :-)
ReplyDeleteMakes me wonder too.
Deletethat is quite a nifty tip, i will keep that in mind....my recent box of eggs have this very tiny little egg in the group, really cute! ;)
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome. That is why we should never crack an egg directly into the food, pan, or whatever. Make it a habit to do it on a separate bowl. Sayang tuloy yung noodles.
