Health is wealth

Health is wealth. We had our Annual Physical Exam at work a week ago thru Medicard's mobile clinic. I was surprised to receive an email from the HR Department saying that they had the results of my APE and I had to claim it from them. I mentioned the word "surprise" because I know that they do not normally do that. Last year's APE was okay. No results were needed to be claimed. This time, I wondered why such results needed my attention. Then I found out that they saw a trace of sugar I dunno where. All the that's written mentioned that I needed to have FBS done.

A fasting blood sugar (FBS) level is one of the tests used to diagnose diabetes. It is done after taking blood sample after a night of fasting. Arrggh, I've done this a couple of months ago as requested by my OB. Another one now? Can I just forward the results to them? Another round of fasting will begin. In preparation for the test:

• Do not eat or drink anything, including water, after midnight before the test. This includes coffee, gum, candy and mints.

• Do not smoke after midnight before the test.

• If you are to take your medicines the morning of the test, take them with sips of water only.

Hmmm... this has to be scheduled and done over the weekend. I wouldn't be able to fast with the type of schedule and workload I have during weekdays.

Meanwhile, I got a text message from our househelp telling me that our water tank broke and requires attention asap. If not, our household wouldn't have water in the coming days. No, no, no. Since this needs to be done immediately, I think I should have the drainage, toilet and faucets checked as well. Why not do it all in one blow, right? How I wish I could replace the one we have right now with Kohler toilets. That would be lovely, right? Paging the husband.. Hear me out!
