Thursday Challenge: WEATHER

How is everyone doing? Welcome back, ELECTRICITY! And I welcome myself back into the modern times. It feels good waking up to see the electric fan functioning well now. Radio and tv turned on, etc.

For 1 day and a half, there was no electricity - meaning no charged mobile phones, no phone lines (PLDT),  no internet, not even downloaded computer games to keep us busy. I was saving my laptop battery if in case there was something urgent or important to do. Then I realized it was of no use at all because SUN Broadband was down as well. Oh well, we're back to the good ol' times when everything was so simple then. Nothing too complicated. It was a good opportunity for bonding with my husband, in-laws, house-help, and friends. I also got to catch up on reading. With 6 books waiting to be read, I picked up one and started reading again. That is, with my glasses on now. Have been experiencing terrible headaches the past few days, and my glasses helped ease the pain.

With no power, there wouldn't be any water, too. Lesson learned: Always keep the water tank stocked. When the brownout or should I say BLACKOUT (entire Metro Manila) happened, the water was already nearing the level where the motor should automatically turn on and fill the tank up. Though all our relatives live nearby, there wasn't any water, too. Then came the scarcity of mineral water. Delivery is every Wednesday, but no one showed up to deliver water. We went around the village to get our containers filled up to no avail. We only had one 5 gallon container left filled. With 5 people here at home, how will we make this last til we get our supply? The groceries and supermarkets have been running out of supply too. We were fortunate enough to have purchased at least 3 gallons.

Let me show you what Basyang has left us (here in our village).

THE MORNING AFTER
Outside our house

Driving around the village to look for water, we passed by this street. This is the street where I grew up. The husband and I decided to check on my parents to see if everything's okay. Glad to know they're fine.

We also wanted to check on my brother, sis-in-law and niece, but this tree made the road impassable and we had to use the other route. Glad to know they're okay, too.

This is surprising. This tower has surpassed a lot of storms. Too bad, all his might and power had to end. The blue building is a commercial establishment, thank Heavens, no one was hurt.

  1. I saw the pictures in today's newspaper, the slum area really got it bad, with half their roof blown away in the storm!at least your area are not severely affected.

  3. Your poor country has been hit with just so much wild weather during 2010. It is time you and yours were given a breather, and time to clean it all up and get it back to the way it was.

    Strength be to you.
