What's in a name?

Finally....

...they got the spelling not RIGHT but very close to how my name is spelled. Haha! I am just so happy. Just add another N and the barista could get a perfect score for spelling my name. Bravo!  A lot of times they'd write - Janice, Janees, Janis, Janise to name a few. Fact is, I never, ever pronounce my name that way. I have a weird-spelling name. How it's pronounced is different too.

I'm sure that you've encountered the French word JEUNESSE. That's it! You read it right. That is how my name is correctly uttered. According to my mama, while she was at the labor room several years ago (haha), a radio ad/jingle has been repeatedly playing over the radio. The ad went "with the new Jeunesse fragrance". She loved how it sounded. Very much French daw. Arte! Hehe. Problem was she didn't know what the correct spelling is. And there came the spelling Jannesse.

This is how to correctly pronounce my name:

jeu·nesse (z̸hë nes)
noun
  1. the time of one's youth
  2. young people
JEUNESSE
Gender: Feminine
Usage: Various
Means "youth" in French. It is not used as a given name in France itself.

**Remember the brand IMPULSE, the body spray? I was so surprised to see a tv ad / radio ad back in the 80's (grade school at this time. :) ) with a variant they named JEUNESSE. It was introduced in 1981 and the fragrance paid homage to classic French perfumes and managed to make £8 million in the UK.
